故事从很久很久之前的远古时代就已经开始了，温西森是一个非常非常古老的家族，在家长马修（克里斯托弗· 普卢默 Christopher Plummer 饰）的领导下，他们牢牢的控制着凶恶狡诈的吸血鬼一族，阻止他们在人间作恶伤人。这样的平衡一直持续到新千年的开始，直到以马库斯（欧玛·艾普斯 Omar Epps 饰）为首的盗窃团伙潜入了温西森家族的老宅，盗贼们偷走了看似珍贵的陪葬品，却也在无意之间解开了加在吸血鬼一族身上数千年的诅咒，吸血鬼苏醒了，人类的末日即将来临。面对如此危机的情况，温西森家族重新回到了久违的战场，面对他们的对手。然而，这一次，在长久的禁之下，这群吸血鬼们变得更加邪恶，更加凶残……
德古拉（犹大）：
多个世纪以前，一个名为德古拉的吸血鬼横行于世。吸血鬼猎人范海辛消灭了其他吸血鬼，却始终无法杀死他。
猎人发现，德古拉厌恶一切跟基督有关的东西，十字架、圣经、银币——但这些东西并不能杀死他。范海辛抓住了德古拉，并且一直在寻找能够杀死他的方法……为了这个理想，范海辛利用水蛭，注射德古拉的血，一直活到今日。
德古拉只是他的一个名字，他真实的身份，追溯到了远古的基督时代，在那里，他最初的名字：犹大。
玛丽·海勒（玛丽·范海辛）：
由英国古典气质美女贾斯汀·沃德尔饰演范海辛猎人的女儿玛丽。
她继承了德古拉留在范海辛体内的血，是“唯一一个不是咬出来的灵魂，而是生出来的灵魂。”（德古拉语）她是他的“血中血，肉中肉”（德古拉语）。所以几乎每晚她都在梦里见到他……一直到他苏醒。
